Waste sustainability is especially important in Singapore with its space constraints, yet for the past decade, our household recycling rates have stayed at a stagnant 20% despite government efforts. With our only landfill set to be filled up a decade earlier than intended, we urgently need to create a recycling culture that engages the local community. This campaign recreates the recycling experience into an enticing activity so that consumers can make a positive environmental impact in their various lifestyles.
The idea focuses on improving the Karung Guni trade; an existing avenue of recycling instead of creating a new one. By revamping the avenue as an on-demand service that involves and modernizes an old trade, while rewarding acts of recycling, it encourages greater action through familiarity and convenience.
